Angela Heflin is the Associate Director for MVCA and MVEF. Building on her deep expertise in operations and management, Angela is responsible for supporting with fund procurement and strategic planning that helps grow the venture capital industry and entrepreneurial ecosystem in Michigan. At MVCA, Heflin works with the Board of Directors and MVCA committees to develop programs in addition to our members to promote utilization of programs, lead all MVCA events, leads publication of the annual research report, and manages the day-to-day office operations while maintaining high MVCA professional standards.
Her background in business, education, and nonprofit sectors bring a commitment to the creation of lasting societal improvement and integrity in leadership to drive successful strategic investments, including with her own company, Vaulted Foundations. At Vaulted, Angela successfully secured and managed over $800 million in private, state, and federal funds across the Midwest. In this role, Heflin led the launch of several organizations and nonprofits across Michigan with a focus on operations and procurement to improve access and equity in disadvantaged communities through the development and implementation of community programs and social ventures. Angela is also a recognized expert in nonprofits, grant procurement and evaluation, and operational management.
Prior to her ten years as an entrepreneur, Angela served at the executive level of leadership at a private Human Resource provider, leading over 500 employees in several public schools across the state of Michigan. As an urban school teacher and administrator, Angela worked with thousands of students and educators, including improving access to entrepreneurial opportunities and programs in Detroit and Dearborn. As a New School Development (NSD) Director for the state of Michigan, she created a nationally recognized operational curriculum and member association program, while also launching, training, and evaluating over 100 Board of Directors in the areas of compliance, finance, HR, and strategic initiatives.
Heflin and her husband reside in Ann Arbor, Michigan with their four children. Angela is also a soccer coach for Ann Arbor Public Schools, serves on the Board of Directors at Community United, and is an elected peer reviewer for several state and federal agencies. Heflin holds a bachelor’s in Education and Exercise and Sport Science and is in pursuit of an MBA with certification in American Legal Studies and Nonprofit Management.
