DECEMBER 2, 2014 — ANN ARBOR, MICH. — At its annual awards dinner, the Michigan Venture Capital Association (MVCA) announced that Maureen Miller Brosnan has been hired as its new executive director. In this role, Brosnan, who has 27 years experience in the non-profit sector, will oversee the organization’s strategy and direction, and create awareness and support of Michigan venture capital firms and activity.
“Maureen brings the exact right blend of experience and expertise that MVCA needs to continue to promote and advocate for venture capital to a range of audiences, including entrepreneurs, investors, legislators, and the public,” said Jim Adox, chair, MVCA board of directors. “There’s growth and excitement in venture capital in Michigan. Having the right leader in place at MVCA will support the venture capital community as it continues to grow here and create a positive funding environment for investors and businesses alike.”
In addition to her role at MVCA, Brosnan is currently president of the Livonia City Council. She is also chair of the board of directors of St. Mary Mercy Hospital in Livonia, Mich., and immediate past chair of the Board of Directors of the St. Joseph Mercy Health System.
Brosnan’s extensive non-profit and government experience includes serving on Michigan Governor Jennifer M. Granholm’s executive leadership team and campaign manager for Connie Kelley for Michigan Supreme Court.
Brosnan is a graduate of Central Michigan University, where she earned a bachelor of applied arts degree in journalism and public relations.
