Nathan Owen is now a Partner at Grand Ventures. He has collaborated closely as a trusted advisor with the fund for several years, and we are thrilled to welcome him onboard as full-time team member! He will focus on deals in the DevOps, cybersecurity, and open source software industries.

Nathan brings 20 years of operational experience in enterprise technology space to Grand Ventures as a former CEO, COO, CRO, and VP of Sales. In those roles, Nathan has successfully exited companies and BUs to Oracle, VMware, and Bain, and raised over $120 million of venture funding. Before joining Grand Ventures, he was COO/CRO at HYCU, a Backup-As-a-Service vendor in the enterprise technology space, where he led the company to 450% growth YoY sales growth and a successful sale to Bain in 2021. Prior to HYCU, Nathan was co-founder and CEO of Blue Medora, a software vendor in the observability segment of the enterprise space. As CEO, he raised over $30M, growing the company to $15M revenue, and led a sale of Blue Medora’s VMware-focused business unit to VMware in 2020. Nathan was co-founder and EVP of Sales of OctetString, a Chicago-based security vendor in the identity management software segment which was acquired by Oracle in 2005. Before catching the startup bug, he worked at IBM in Corporate Development and Business Development roles. Nathan holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree from Central Michigan University.
